Who am I?

Hello! My name is Hallie Root. I am from the small town of Millerton, Pennsylvania where I grew up on a dairy farm. This fall I will be entering my junior year at Lock Haven to continue earning my degree in Special and Elementary Education. From my previous experiences working with children in a variety of situations, I have discovered a great joy it brings to my life. I love being around and interacting with kids everyday; therefore, I feel that teaching would be a perfect job for me.
For the most part I feel very comfortable with technology although I may not have a lot of experience with some of the activities we may encounter with this online class. I am able to use all the general functions of a computer and programs such as Microsoft Office, Internet, and many more. On the other hand, this is my first experience blogging and am very excited about learning how to do so. I have a feeling this class is going to be very beneficial to me because it will broaden my knowledge of skills using the computer.
Instructional Media will be my third class I have taken online. Personally, I benefit more from the face-to-face classroom setting, but during the summer I am too far away from Lock Haven to commute and attend classes. I enjoy being able to take courses online over the summer because I am still able to obtain a full-time job and still be able to complete this course when it works for me.

  1. I am not surprised that you, like most learners, prefer taking face-2-face. I believe teaching face-2-face will remain the preferred method of many of my peers.

Before this class I have never taught online. This is my first, I now am in it, and have found out that first of all, I must spend a considerable amount of time to design an develop an online class. Secondly, I have to shift from the role of content provider to that of content facilitator which I feel a little hard for me to get used to.

Well, whatever it is, I wish that my on-line students would succeed as much as those in my face-2-face course.
